What Is the W Visa Program
Question: What Is the W Visa Program? Answer: One of the most contentious issues during the U.S. Senateââ¬â¢s debate over comprehensive immigration reform was the dispute over a W visa program, a new classification that would allow lower-skilled, foreign laborers to work temporarily in the country. The W visa, in effect, creates a guest-worker program that would apply to lower-wage workers, including housekeepers, landscapers, retail workers, restaurant staff, and some construction workers. The Senateââ¬â¢s Gang of Eight settled on a temporary worker plan that was a compromise between Democratic and Republican lawmakers, industry leaders, and labor unions. Under the proposal for the W visa program, foreign workers with lesser skills would be able to apply for jobs in the United States. The program would be based on a system of registered employers who would apply to the government for participation. Upon acceptance, the employers would be permitted to hire a specific number of W visa workers each year. The employers would be required to advertise their open positions for a period of time to give U.S. workers a chance to apply for the openings. Businesses would be prohibited from advertising positions that require a bachelorââ¬â¢s degree or higher degrees. The spouse and minor children of the W visa-holder is allowed to accompany or follow to join the worker and can receive work authorization for the same period. The W visa program calls for the creation of a Bureau of Immigration and Labor Market Research that will operate under U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Department of Homeland Security. The bureauââ¬â¢s role is to help determine the numbers for the annual cap of new worker visas and identify shortages of labor. The bureau also will help develop labor recruiting methods for businesses and report to Congress on how the program is doing. Much of the dispute in Congress over the W visa grew out of the unionsââ¬â¢ determination to protect wages and prevent abuses, and business leadersââ¬â¢ determination to keep regulations to a minimum. The Senateââ¬â¢s legislation wound up containing protections for whistleblowers and guidelines for wages that guarded against sub-minimum pay. According to the bill, S. 744, the wages to be paid ââ¬Å"will be either the actual wage paid by the employer to other employees with similar experience and qualification or the prevailing wage level for the occupational classification in the geographic metropolitan statistical area whichever is higher.â⬠The U.S. Chamber of Commerce gave its blessing to the plan, believing the system for bringing in temporary workers would be good for business and good for the U.S. economy. The chamber said in a statement: ââ¬Å"The new W-Visa classification features a streamlined process for employers to register job openings that can be filled by temporary foreign workers, while still ensuring that American workers get first crack at every job and that wages paid are the greater of actual or prevailing wage levels.â⬠The number of W visas offered would be capped at 20,000 the first year and increase to 75,000 for the fourth year, under the Senateââ¬â¢s plan. The bill establishes a guest worker program for lower-skilled workers that ensures our future flow of workers is manageable, traceable, fair to American workers, and in line with our economyââ¬â¢s needs, said Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. The modernization of our visa programs will ensure people who want to come legally ââ¬â and who our economy needs to come legally ââ¬â can do so.

ââ¬Å"Should he order this devastating bomb to be dropped on Japan, a nation so close to defeat? ââ¬Ë (Stein 40). Perhaps this was President Traumaââ¬â¢s most agonizing and most difficult decision of his life. Japan s plans to expand, led it to attack Pearl Harbor in December 1941 (US History World War II). We will write a custom essay sample on Poopp or any similar topic only for you Order Now This invasion made World War II an unavoidable event for the United States. The surprise offense on Hawaii made this country aware of the strength and power that Japan held. Ironically, a fair number of people urged President Truman not to employ the weapon because of the possible civilian deaths it could cause. These people were unaware of the three-million man army and a civilian population determined to fight until death that Japan had (Stein 40), without a doubt not a ââ¬Å"nation so close to defeatâ⬠. Those who criticized the bomb had very little understanding of the type of war that America was brought Into. Numerous strategies on how to convince Japan to surrender were considered. In July, 1945, the atomic bomb became available. After a great amount of time contemplating, President Truman eventually decided to command the use of the atomic bombs. The explosives were dropped on two cities of military significance, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The first city to be attacked was Hiroshima, on August 4th, 1945. This area of land is located in Japanââ¬â¢s Inland Sea, on the main island, Honshu. This target for the first atomic weapon to be used was where the second general army was headquartered. Three days following the first drop of explosives, there was still no reply from Japan. On August 9th, America decided to repeat the process. The second primary target was a city with the name of Koura, which held a huge army arsenal (Pacific War Bomb Justifiable). Thick clouds prevented the bombing on Koura, so the American navy resorted to their second choice of area, Nagasaki. This city Is located on Shush, an Island In Japan, and Included a port with naval installations. Despite arguments that still go on today, one can discover by research that the use of the explosives was undoubtedly appropriate and the most promising method to end the war. Japan is known for having much strength when it comes to war effort. With this, one can better understand why the bomb was needed to prevent the cost of American lives. Though there was much concern about the Japanese casualties, the dropping of the atomic bombs can be seen as a reasonable act of revenge on account of previous occurrences with Japan. The Japanese military was indispensably strict. Indubitably, victory was extremely substantial. But more than victory was the religious nature of Japanese war effort. Relatives, ancestors, and the emperor of the land were to be highly respected, much more respect than the typical American expresses towards his or her family. Every Japanese soldier Is, If anything, expected to die with honor. Any man who surrenders on the battlefield Is en as a pessimist by showing disrespect to his country, family, and ruler. A very surrender. It is known that there have been frequent mass suicides among Japanese troops that occurred during and after losing battles. Japanese soldiers who were seized were usually approached poorly. Captured men were accounted as animals and not treated like humans. Numerous of Japanese have died or committed suicide in past losing battles, but that does not mean that they failed to try. Unquestionably, Japan consistently striver for victory, gave all their strength, and was over prepared for many battles. The country fought until the last man. Even the wounded were supplied with two hand grenades. ââ¬Å"One was to kill an enemy soldier, including enemy medical staff, who approached them, and the other was to kill themselves rather than endure the shame of being captured aliveâ⬠(Pacific War Bomb Justifiable). This act demonstrates how the Japan military was overenthusiastic and brutal. These would have been the troops America would have faced if President Truman had opposed the atomic bombs and decided to side with a Japan land invasion. Ultimately, the United States sufficiently weakened the Japanese promise of ââ¬Å"fighting o the last manâ⬠when they surrendered. Destroying the countryââ¬â¢s words was Just one method to demolish Japanââ¬â¢s power to make war and another reason why showing Americaââ¬â¢s technological power by dropping two atomic bombs was appropriate. The decision to elect the explosives was extremely logical when thinking about the prevented American lives. President Harry Truman contemplated on an abundance of strategies to convince Japan to surrender. His first option was to continue what was previously ordered in Japan. Heavy bombing on Japan cities already existed, but the explosives would be intensified. Also, the Soviet Union, an ally in defeating Germany, was supposedly Joining the war with Japan. The president considered anticipating until the Soviet Union got involved, and possibly Japan would surrender without a catastrophe. Next, Truman thought it was worth a try bargaining Japanââ¬â¢s surrender and allowing them to keep their emperor, Horopito, on his throne. The last method was a land invasion. According to the president, ââ¬Å"each posed serious military, political, and diplomatic risksâ⬠(Scholastic Upfront Bomb Debate). Certainly, the forth option would have been intensely unfortunate for the United States of America. ââ¬Å"An invasion of Japanââ¬â¢s home islands would risk one-million American battle casualtiesâ⬠(Pacific War Bomb Justifiable). In July, 1945, the atomic bomb became available. This seemed to be the most assuring way the war would end, but at the same time, President Truman was in a predicament because of such world controversy over whether the explosive was suitable. In the end, the presidentââ¬â¢s decision showed that ââ¬Å"the bombing was necessary to accomplish Traumaââ¬â¢s objectives of forcing a prompt Japanese surrender and saving perhaps thousands of Americansââ¬â¢ livesâ⬠(Scholastic Upfront Bomb Debate). Though this was not the purpose of dropping the bombs, the atomic explosives scattered over Japan can rationally be seen as an act of revenge. The Japanese was the reason behind America being brought into World War II, simply because of their attack on Pearl Harbor. The offense was without warning and a great amount of Americans died, including civilians. The number of American causalities from the attack was extremely ignominious compared to the insignificant amount of Japanese deaths. For those who side with the atomic bombs, the Pearl Harbor attack was another reason they believed the Orrville actions the Japanese have done to hurt the United of America. In a radio broadcast, following the dropping of the atomic bombs, Truman mentioned a few of Japanââ¬â¢s negative efforts. Speaking about the explosive, President Truman said, ââ¬Å"We have used it against those who attacked us without warning at Pearl Harbor, against those who have starved and beaten and executed American prisoners of war, and against those who have abandoned all pretense of obeying international laws of warfareâ⬠(Pacific War Bomb Justifiable). Perhaps after the bombs were dropped, Truman felt a bit regretful of his commands. After attaining and stating those words, it is obvious that the president felt that he had decided on the correct choice. One can only believe that he pondered on the fact that he once had difficulty on deciding something that was so obvious when he recalled past issues with Japan. American considered plenty of ways for Japan to surrender. American even offered a few of these ways as choices to Japan. One would think that any alternative would be chosen over war, but this was irrelevant to Japan. As mentioned before, the Japanese belief was to ââ¬Å"fight to the last manâ⬠, and that is what the country had planned to do. Others believe Japan was waiting in hopes of securing better surrender terms (Scholastic Upfront Bomb Debate), but on July 28th, 1945, the Prime Minister of Japan, Suzuki, ignored the Potsdam Declaration. The Potsdam Declaration gave Japan an opportunity to surrender without war (Pacific War Bomb Justifiable). ââ¬Å"President Truman warned Japanese leaders that they must surrender or, ââ¬Ëâ⬠¦ They may expect a rain of ruin from the air, the like of which has never been seen on this earthâ⬠(Stein 41). This was the presidentââ¬â¢s method of getting Japan to understand that if there was no surrender, then there will be war, there will be revenge. In conclusion, Japan did surrender eventually, on August 14th. In the city of Hiroshima, an estimated amount of 60,000 people were killed. Over in Nagasaki, approximately 40,000 lives were taken, and relatively 60,000 injured. The bomb radiation would result in leaving many survivors with possible cancer, cataracts, genetic, life-shortening, and fertility effects. Perhaps these results were an extra force for Japanââ¬â¢s surrender, along with the entry of the Soviet Union. Regardless of deaths, effects, and injuries done to Japan, the atomic weapons were unquestionably required to end World War II. The Japanese have plenty courage and strength in their war effort that it was certain that they werenââ¬â¢t going to surrender. During the time of refusing and ignoring Americaââ¬â¢s quest to compromise and perhaps arrange some sort of deal for the country to surrender, Japan was undoubtedly preparing for a fight to the death as a nation (Pacific War Bomb Justifiable). With this in mind, the bombs were a fortunate thing when the possible amount of American deaths resulting from a land invasion is apprehended. If the explosives werenââ¬â¢t dropped, Japan would have control of the war. How to cite Poopp, Papers

Question: Discuss about a Report for Samsung Corporations Operations Strategy. Answer: Background Information The Samsung Company has been existence since 1970, and their operations have been successful with amendments on its management and ownerships. This change has not changed its mission of creating the futures and in every worlds technological development that has been experienced in the network sector, the Samsung gadgets have been among the first to deliver. To create a persistent chain for such a long time means that there is a need for strong operations strategy to support the businesses and conquer the market by delivering better products to the customers. The companys vision is to inspire the world through creating network devices for the future. This is a possible dream that is being worked on by providing the best gadgets and exploiting the market capabilities to reach all the customers. Their products include computers, feature phones and smartphones. The market is invaded by a much technological organisation that are also focusing on producing the best technology ever developed. Mainly on the network sector, companies such as Apple and Nokia has also proved the market that they can provide best network gadget, thus creating tough competition for the Samsung Corporation. Some of the markets in the world have been not easy for the Samsung products to be accepted such as the American market where Apple has been operating as a super company mostly in the American market. It took a lot of business strategizing for Samsungs products like Galaxy S6 to win the purchase decision of some individuals in the American states. After the achievement of developing the 4G network gadgets, the corporation is focused on soon creating network gadgets that could provide speedy (5G) networks for the customers. This will meet the needs of many individuals who wish to have faster network than the existing to perform their tasks efficiently and effective ly (Samsung Business Strategy, 2007). Processes of Operations Strategy Four processes are used in the generation of strategies in an organisation. These steps should always be followed for an effective operations strategy developments. The process includes formulation, implementation, monitoring and control of the developed operations strategy. Therefore, these stages will be discussed about Samsung Corporation and their products. Formulation Formulation of the operations strategy requires the developers of the strategic approaches to identify the missions and objectives of the company. It will be important to use the objectives of the organisation to ensure that the developed strategies help in the development of the company. For instance, Samsungs mission is to create the future by providing gadgets that serve the community on a technological basis. Therefore, this will be the main drive for the operations strategy (Kruger Noxolo Mama, 2012). Also, the objectives of the company should be considered so that effective strategies that no contradict the missions and visions of the organisation can be formulated. The strength and weaknesses of the Samsung company are also supposed to be critically analysed. It will be better for a company to understand points of weaknesses so that more effort can be applied to avoid business losses. Strengths will also be used to the advantage of the company and its products (Fleisher Bens oussan, 2007). The worthiness of products and services are determined when they exposed in a competitive environment. In this case, the customers will have to determine the best product or service to purchase. For instance, Apple products compete with Samsung products in the American market, which means the perception of the customers with determining the purchasing decision. When one product of chosen over the other by the customers with dictate the likes and preferences of the target market. The objectives of Apple Company seem to concur with Samsungs thus making them observe the strengths and weaknesses of their competitors ensure that they develop exemplary devices. Implementation The implementation stage for the developed strategies is focused on ensuring that every idea that has been proposed in perfectly administered. This means that process will tackle the strategies in different methodologies. The customers are important and their views are critical to the development of a company. After the strategies have been created, the management can implement from their levels towards the lowers levels. For example, a strategy in the Samsung firm will have to be administered from the headquarters towards the regional sections and last to national levels. This is because it is an international company that has customers in every part of the globe and every customer is supposed to experience the best services. The resources are mobilised and allocated effectively based on the authority structuring. Every individual within the company is allocated several responsibilities so that the strategy can be made successful. It will be a collective obligation to undertake the tasks as required so that the company can meet its objectives within the specified period. Finally, the information about the strategy follows to enable tackling the responsibilities and policies are formulated to govern the entire strategic process. Several operational and administrative decision are required to help in implementing a particular strategy (Lubowe, Cipollari, Antoine, 2009). For instance, Samsung Corporation is to decide the prices of its products based on regions, considering the specific economic level. Monitoring Projects need to be monitored for maximum output and ensuring that the set policies are followed. There is a great need for a monitoring approach for every strategy implemented in a company to avoid being the chances of failure that can cause great losses to the company. Therefore, some funding should be set aside to help manage the monitoring team perform their tasks effectively, thus generating a report on the progress. Much will be understood about what is required for the strategic processes when there are individual analysing the project. The monitoring process highly focusses of the profitability of the strategies, thus advising the company on whether to invest in the strategy or use an alternative. There is set reviews that are conducted depending on the size covered by the strategy, and the officials should provide the results systematically. For example, if a company implements an international strategy, monitoring will be performed either on a regional basis and the effecti veness will be viewed by the rate of sales observed. (Khanna, 2015) Control Control is the last stage of the strategic management process where the effectiveness of the strategy has been obtained, and the management has confirmed acceptance in the business operations. There are corrective measures that should be undertaken if the strategy deviates from the objectives and goals of the corporation. In Samsung Company, a business strategy can be implemented to boost the sales. Therefore, production of less competitive devices can be produced as a result of wishing to make more sales, which would be the focus of the firm. Therefore, this strategy will have to be corrected to fit the aims of the company, which is to provide solutions to technological network devices and create the future (Palepu Healy, 2013). Competitive Strategies Four business strategies are used by an organisation to fit in a market perfectly. These strategies differ from the costs of production, features of the products and their prices. Low-Cost Provider Firstly, the organisation can focus on the Low-Cost provider strategy that believes in striving to lower the costs of production so that there can be massive customers on a particular product. For instance, Samsung can decide to create a fantastic smartphone that costs less to be able to achieve more sales, more preferably in the developing countries where every person wants to own an internet-enabled device (Valdani Arbore, 2012). This means that the device might not be having a lot of features, but it will-will satisfy the customers effectively. Broad differentiation The second competitive strategy is broad differentiation, where the products are made to be much different from the competitors. These differences are viewed from the design and the software. The prices can also be different to make the customers believe in the products and makes purchases. The different attributes should appear interesting to the customers to give them reasons for choosing this particular product over the others. Focused Low-Cost is another approach that keeps the organisation mind about the low-priced products that are purchased, price-sensitive buyers. These buyers will seem to be crowding the market, and their contribution is enormous. Focused Differentiation The Focused Differentiation is another business technique that can be used to make a product manoeuvre through a tough competitive market. It focuses on the tastes and preferences of the niche members, thus concentrating on the narrow buyer (Tan Matthews, 2009). This means that the low-earners will be considered in developing products that fit their requirements. Samsung Company has used this technique by developing products that are lowly-priced for most people in the target market to afford. Best-Cost Provider Best-Cost Provider is a strategy that will always focus on delivering more value products with a higher level pricing. This is made for the few who can afford and want to have devices with great features. For instance, Samsungs Galaxy S6 has been developed within the Best-Cost business strategy. Samsung Company has been providing high-value products to the target market, which meets the preferences of the customers (Williamson, 2004). This strategy helps a business in quality products that are highly priced. Operations Management Contributions The operation management has several responsibilities in a company as far as strategic management is concerned. These responsibilities revolve around designing, planning, managing and coordinating the general strategic processes. Therefore, if there any requirements for improving the strategies, it will always be the responsibility of the operations management to design it again to fit the required standards (Haberberg Rieple, 2008). The limited resources are to be allocated perfectly to cover all the need for the strategies. For example, changes in demand for a certain Samsung smartphone model will require an increase of decrease of the resources used. Teamwork is also very important in improving the functionality of the strategic management and ensuring that the strategies are effective. The coordination of the strategies requires the operations develop a way of interrelating activities to fit the objectives of the company (Kruger Noxolo Mama, 2012). Without proper coordination, the chances of the strategies failing will be high. Conclusion and Recommendation The Samsung Corporation need to work towards the generating strategies that fit their target markets. The products are of different qualities of the network handsets that differ with prices and considering that people have different purchasing capabilities. The effectiveness of the strategies will depend on the specific target market selected. For instance, selling devices that are of high prices to areas where the poverty level is high will not be effective as dealing with low-priced handsets. The operations management should ensure that the strategies are objective-oriented to avoid working against the aims of the company, thus leading to mistrust from the targeted market. In conclusion, consultation should be encouraged to avoid making the wrong decision for the business. Business experts should be the consultants of the company to provide the best advice for profitable decisions. References Fleisher, C. Bensoussan, B. (2007). Business and competitive analysis. Utilitarianism on extra marital sex Essay Example
Utilitarianism on extra marital sex Paper The negative association with sex outside of marriage arises due to the many consequences it could have; such as the broken trust that follows due to the violation of the vows taken inferno of God. With infidelity that has been committed by the women brings uncertainty on who the father is of any offspring this is frowned upon as men do not want to spend money and time on children that are not theirs. Also sex outside of marriage can also spread disease to the innocent which could cause physical and emotional pain. Utilitarianism only asks whether sexual behavior will cause harm or give pleasure: if, on balance, it produces more pleasure than harm, then its good. This isnt an excuse for wholesale rape and promiscuity; you have to think of your own pleasure, but also your partners and everybody else who would be affected. This is known as the harm principle and it rules out rape, adultery in most cases and other harmful, coercive or deceitful sexual behaviors. Beneath placed sexual love, which he described as physical sire, in the category of self-regarding motives for human behavior, along with pecuniary interest, love of power, and self preservation. Therefore in the course of drafting a utilitarian law of marriage Beneath set out an explanation of the pleasures and pains of sexual love.
